The Jewelry Box

Project's description

The Jewelry Box: Crafting Elegance in Ganei Tikva

Located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Ganei Tikva, “The Jewelry Box” is a project
that demonstrates the transformative power of determination, sensitivity, and design.
Completed in 2023, the apartment was named after the homeowner’s passion for jewelry and
became a refined and expressive home within an otherwise modest urban context.

The project was shaped by a deeply personal story. Influenced by the complex life journeys
and traumas experienced by close family members, the homeowners set out to create a space
that celebrates life, resilience, and beauty. Despite the apartment’s unassuming location,
they chose to invest fully in realizing their dream home.

Personal story and community ties

The decision to remain in Ganei Tikva stemmed from strong emotional and practical ties to the
community. Their children attended the local high school, long-standing relationships with
doctors and neighbors were already established, and daily life was closely connected to the
area’s familiar services and social fabric.

The renovation began with a complete stripping of the apartment, preserving only the
mandatory Israeli security room, known as the mamad. This process created a blank canvas
from which a new and highly personal home could emerge.

Spatial concept and form

A defining design choice was the introduction of rounded walls throughout the common areas.
These soft geometries foster a sense of continuity and wholeness, allowing the spaces to flow
naturally into one another. Sharp angles were deliberately avoided to prevent fragmentation
and visual tension within the interior.

Craftsmanship and materiality

The apartment is characterized by meticulous craftsmanship and a strong attention to detail.
Custom carpentry, curved elements, and subtle brass accents contribute to a refined yet
understated elegance. All furniture pieces were designed specifically for the space, aligning
with the apartment’s rounded language and jewel-like quality.

A home as a statement

For the homeowners, the apartment quickly became a point of fascination within the
neighborhood — an unexpected example of luxury and design sensitivity in Ganei Tikva.
As the couple describes it, “My home is my fortress and my refuge.”

“The Jewelry Box” stands not only as a reflection of a personal journey, but also as a reminder
that thoughtful design and ambition can allow beauty and dreams to flourish anywhere.
