Seaview All Over

Project's description

Seaview All Over: The Transformation of a 60 sqm Apartment

Located in Netanya, along the Mediterranean coastline and just steps from Sironit Beach,
this compact 60-square-meter apartment was transformed into a refined coastal home for
a couple in their fifties, drawn primarily by the panoramic views of the open sea.

As the designer notes, the couple often reflects that without this exceptional location,
the likelihood of leaving the capital city would have been minimal. The uninterrupted
sea view became the central anchor of the entire design process.

Challenges and planning approach

Originally designed as a hotel, the building presented a number of spatial challenges.
The apartment’s rectangular layout and limited footprint required a thoughtful and
innovative planning strategy. Prior to renovation, the interior showed clear signs of
wear and aging, calling for a complete redesign from the ground up.

At the heart of the brief was a simple yet powerful request: every corner of the home
should remain visually connected to the sea. Rather than leaning into predictable
nautical motifs, the design approach focused on enhancing the natural presence of the
Mediterranean view itself.

Smart design solutions

All interior partitions were removed to allow for a new, fluid layout that maximized
both openness and visual continuity. The reconfigured plan enables seamless transitions
between functions while amplifying the sense of space within the compact footprint.

Utility and laundry areas — typically secondary spaces — were discreetly concealed
behind a full-height mirrored surface. When closed, the mirror reflects the seascape,
creating the illusion of an expanded interior and reinforcing the omnipresent connection
to the outdoors.

Art, restraint, and atmosphere

In keeping with the decision to avoid clichés, commissioned artworks were integrated
into the interior, selected to complement rather than compete with the surrounding view.
A restrained, neutral palette with subtle coastal references ensures that the sea
remains the dominant visual and emotional element of the home.

A compact home with expansive living

Despite its modest size, the apartment offers a high quality of life and a sense of
spatial generosity. Through careful planning, clarity of vision, and precise execution,
a 60-square-meter footprint was transformed into a serene seaside retreat that feels
both open and deeply connected to its surroundings.
